Monaco Week in China!

(Chengdu, China) The “Monaco Week in China” is co-organized annually by the Embassy of Monaco in China, Blu Inc Media, the Prince Albert II Foundation and the Monaco Government Tourist Office. From 30 May to 3 June 2016, a series of presentations and meetings took place on behalf and for a delegation of business owners and representatives from Monaco. The event was hosted in various prestigious locations such as Eclat Hotel Park View Green in Beijing and Niccolo Hotel in Chengdu.

On the tourism front, the Monaco Tourism Road Show 2016 traveled to 3 cities in China for the first time, including Chengdu and Chongqing which are “new” to Monaco’s tourism promotion efforts. Although Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou remain the 3 largest sources of clientele in China, Chengdu and Chongqing both constitute new and interesting market sources for tourism, owing to their growing international connections with the principal gateways of Europe and the growing presence of Schengen countries’ consulates which facilitate the decision for travel to Europe from China.

In each city, a selection of key travel agents representing both the leisure and MICE segments – CYTS, Huayuan, U-Tour – as well as key editors of national and local online and offline media – Conde Nast Traveller, Harper’s Bazaar, Sina – were invited to the Monaco Tourism presentations. A workshop then ensued, allowing agents and partners from Monaco to meet, exchange information and discuss business matters or inquiries. Monte-Carlo Societe des Bains de Mer (SBM), Fairmont Monte-Carlo and Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo were represented at all the events including a sales calls meeting organized in Beijing.  Several exclusive media interviews were also arranged for Mr. Guillaume Rose, President of Monaco Government Tourist Bureau.

Upon departure, each invited participant was remitted a Monaco bag containing gifts from Monaco Government Tourist Office and the partners, plus all the partners’ information in a Formula-1-car-shaped 8GB USB key presented in an elegant and reusable box embossed with a silver Monaco logo.

Apart from Monaco’s tourism promotion activities, 2 June 2016 was dedicated to Monaco’s engagement and forefront policies in promoting sustainability and conservation of our global environment. Mr. Olivier Wendel, General Manager of The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, delivered several inspiring and engaging speeches and presentations.

This was followed by a business executive dinner gathering 80 high-profile personnel. It was held at Luxelakes, a luxury estate and Community Centre including 58 multimillion dollars’ private villas, sports, entertainment, meeting & restaurants facilities situated an hour drive away from Chengdu. The cocktail, sponsored by Veuve Cliquot, was served al fresco and the dinner, prepared by one-star Michelin Chef Marcel Ravin from SBM’s Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, was received to great acclaim. Most of the invitees were Luxelakes Villa owners.

Lastly, 3 June 2016 was dedicated to the promotion of yachting in Monaco. Several entities from Monaco, including the Monaco Yacht Show and several yacht brokers and manufacturers, were able to offer a thorough presentation on Monaco’s exceptional and unique yachting environment, infrastructure, offering and event calendar to the interested parties. The night ended with a closing VIP cocktail & gala dinner hosted by H.E. Mme Catherine Fautrier, Ambassador of Monaco to China, at Niccolo Hotel Chengdu. It gathered 200 VIP guests who enjoyed a 4-course dinner, once again prepared by Chef Ravin. The event was a huge success, garnering overwhelming praises and a deep appreciation from partners and guests for holding the event in Chengdu for the very first time.
